Rosco Gels!

Woo! I got my Rosco Gel Sample Pack yesterday. Get ready for crazy cool color correction and fun. This is what I ordered from Adorama.

Its a sample pack for Flash Gels they sell. But fortunately they are a little bigger then the flash on my SB-600. So for a whopping 3 bucks, I have 100’s of gels to add to my Flash. SICK!

I had to be creative and make a gel holder. I looked over strobist and some other blogs with ways to do it. I didn’t really like any ways they did it. It involved cutting, glueing or adding velco to the gels and flash. I don’t feel like destroying my gels or adding anything to my Flash.

So to create a gel holder, I found a old name tag holder. I stared at it for a while pondering “How am I gonna make this work.” After a while I came to this conclusion:

Not to hard to create. I cut the bottom right corner off the same size of the gel. I left some plastic on at the top. So I could fold it over and slide it into the top of my SB-600. I cut it like this cause now I can easily slide gels in and out from the left. And they won’t fall out or anything cause the right side and bottom are still there. Mounted to the flash here:

And now you can add GELS!!!

This method is SUPER cheap. SUPER clean looking (In my opinion) and totally non-destructive to your Gel’s and Flash.
